Lvmh Names Uk Designer Sarah Burton As Givenchy Creative Director

LVMH names UK designer Sarah Burton as Givenchy creative director

British fashion designer Sarah Burton has been named the new creative director of Givenchy, the French luxury fashion house owned by LVMH.

Burton, who has been the creative director of Alexander McQueen since 2010, will take up her new role at Givenchy on 1 March 2023.

She will be responsible for all creative aspects of the brand, including its women's and men's collections, as well as its accessories and beauty lines.

Burton is a graduate of Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in London. She joined Alexander McQueen in 1996 and became the brand's creative director following the death of McQueen in 2010.

During her time at Alexander McQueen, Burton has overseen the design of some of the brand's most iconic collections, including the "Savage Beauty" exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York in 2011.

She has also dressed a number of high-profile celebrities, including Kate Middleton, who wore a Sarah Burton-designed Alexander McQueen gown for her wedding to Prince William in 2011.

Burton's appointment as creative director of Givenchy is a major coup for the brand. She is one of the most respected and successful fashion designers in the world, and her appointment is likely to boost Givenchy's sales and profile.

Burton is the first female creative director of Givenchy since Clare Waight Keller, who left the brand in 2020.

Her appointment is also a sign of LVMH's commitment to investing in British fashion talent. LVMH owns a number of other British fashion brands, including Stella McCartney, Thomas Burberry and Loewe.
