Remedy: Annapurna Interactive Unrest Won’t Impact Control 2 Development

Annapurna Interactive’s financial troubles won’t affect the development of Control 2, as confirmed by developer Remedy Entertainment.

Despite the recent news of Annapurna Interactive’s financial struggles and layoffs, Remedy Entertainment, the developer of the upcoming Control 2, has stated that these developments won’t affect the game’s production.

Remedy’s statement on Annapurna Interactive

In a statement to IGN, Remedy said, “We are aware of the recent news regarding Annapurna Interactive. We want to assure our fans that this will not impact the development of Control 2. We are continuing to work hard on the game, and we’re excited to share more with you soon.”

Remedy and Annapurna Interactive have had a successful partnership, with Annapurna publishing Remedy’s previous games, Control and Alan Wake.

Annapurna Interactive’s financial troubles

Annapurna Interactive has been facing financial difficulties in recent months. In December 2022, the company laid off several employees and canceled a number of unannounced projects.

The company’s financial troubles are reportedly due to a combination of factors, including the rising cost of game development, the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the underperformance of some of its recent games.

Control 2 development

Control 2 was announced in August 2022, and is currently in development for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.

The game is a sequel to the 2019 action-adventure game Control, which was a critical and commercial success.

Remedy has not yet announced a release date for Control 2, but the game is expected to be released in 2023.
